Karl Polanyi Visiting Professorship

As part of the Karl-Polanyi Visiting Professorship in Vienna, renowned international academics are invited to present and discuss their interdisciplinary research. Karl Polanyi's comprehensive approach to economic issues promotes a broad dialogue across disciplinary boundaries and helps to inspire debate in the fields of economics and social sciences. The Karl-Polanyi Visiting Professorship was established in 2021 with the aim of promoting interdisciplinary research on current economic and social challenges in a university and non-university context. Another aim is to intensify the exchange between Vienna's universities and other educational institutions.

The visiting professor will lead a doctoral seminar, give a public lecture and take part in an internal workshop, which will be accompanied by a public debate.

The Karl-Polanyi Visiting Professorship is a joint project of the University of Vienna, the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), the Central European University (CEU), the International Karl Polanyi Society IKPS) and the Austrian Chamber of Labor. We would like to thank the Vienna Chamber of Labour and the City of Vienna for their generous support in realising the Karl-Polanyi Visiting Professorship.
