Wir freuen uns Volker Wieland als diesjährigen WKO Gastprofessor an der Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaften begrüßen zu dürfen!
Univ.-Prof. Volker Wieland hat seit März 2012 die IMFS-Stiftungsprofessor für Monetäre Ökonomie inne und ist ebenfalls seit Juni 2012 Geschäftsführender Direktor des IMFS. Zuvor war er Professor für Geldpolitik und Geldtheorie an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt und von 2003 bis 2009 war er Direktor des Center for Financial Studies. Wieland leitet seit März 2023 als Ko-Vorsitzender den Hessischen Zukunftsrat Wirtschaft.
Zudem war und ist Wieland als Consultant für eine Reihe von Institutionen tätig, dazu gehörten unter anderem die Europäische Zentralbank, die Europäische Kommission, das Federal Reserve Board und die Reserve Bank of Finland. Im Jahr 2019 wurde Wieland mit dem Preis des Monetären Workshops für seine Forschungsarbeiten zur monetären Ökonomie ausgezeichnet. Für seine unermüdlichen Verdienste um die Verbindung zwischen Wissenschaft und Politik und Gesellschaft bekam er 2017 den „Public Service Fellowship“ der Alfons und Gertrud Kassel-Stiftung verliehen. Und 2008 wurde Wieland mit dem "Wim Duisenberg Research Fellowship" der Europäischen Zentralbank ausgezeichnet.
In seiner Forschung befasst sich Volker Wieland mit den Themen Geld- und Fiskalpolitik, Konjunkturzyklen und makroökonomische Modelle, Inflation und Deflation, Lernverhalten und wirtschaftliche Dynamik sowie numerische Methoden in der Makroökonomie. Zusätzlich beschäftigt sich Wieland mit dem Aufbau und der Implementierung einer öffentlichen Plattform makroökonomischer Modelle für vergleichende Zwecke: die Macroeconomic Model Data Base.

We are pleased to welcome Volker Wieland as this year's WKO visiting professor at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics!
Univ.-Prof. Volker Wieland has held the IMFS Endowed Chair of Monetary Economics since March 2012 and has also served as the Managing Director of the IMFS since June 2012. Prior to that, he was Professor of Monetary Policy and Theory at Goethe University Frankfurt and, from 2003 to 2009, Director of the Center for Financial Studies. Since March 2023, Wieland has co-chaired the Hessian Future Council for the Economy.
In addition, Wieland has worked as a consultant for a number of institutions, including the European Central Bank, the European Commission, the Federal Reserve Board, and the Bank of Finland. In 2019, Wieland was awarded the Monetary Workshop Prize for his research in monetary economics. For his tireless contributions to bridging science, politics, and society, he received the "Public Service Fellowship" from the Alfons and Gertrud Kassel Foundation in 2017. In 2008, he was honored with the "Wim Duisenberg Research Fellowship" by the European Central Bank.
Volker Wieland's research focuses on monetary and fiscal policy, business cycles and macroeconomic models, inflation and deflation, learning behavior and economic dynamics, as well as numerical methods in macroeconomics. Additionally, Wieland is involved in the development and implementation of a public platform for macroeconomic models for comparative purposes: the Macroeconomic Model Data Base.
