Gute Nachrichten in Zeiten des Notbetriebs: Wir freuen uns, Prof. Christa Cuchiero an der Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaften begrüßen zu dürfen.

Wir freuen uns mitzuteilen, dass Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Christa Cuchiero den Ruf auf die Professur “Quantitatives Risikomanagement” angenommen hat und mit 1.5. 2020 das Institut für Statistik und Operations Research verstärkt.

Davor war sie Professorin an der Universität Paris (Paris VII, Diderot), Assistenzprofessorin an der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien,  sowie Universitätsassistentin an der Fakultät für Mathematik und Post Doc an der ETH Zürich. Am Beginn ihrer beruflichen Karriere war sie als Risiko Analystin bei Allianz France in Paris tätig.

Christa Cuchiero absolvierte ihr Masterstudium in Technischer Mathematik an der TU Wien, mit einem Auslandsaufenthalt  an der Ecole Centrale Paris. Sie promovierte in Mathematik an der ETH Zürich. Ihre Habilitation erfolgte 2018 an der Universität Wien.

Ihre Forschungsinteressen umfassen Finanzmathematik, Stochastische Analysis und Quantitatives Risiko Management, insbesondere datengetriebene Risikoinferenz, Machine Learning in Finance, Statistik stochastischer Prozesse sowie universelle Approximationtheorie in dynamischen Situationen.

Prof. Cuchiero ist Co-Organisatorin zahlreicher internationaler Konferenzen und Workshops, zuletzt des „Quantitative Finance Workshop 2019” in der Schweiz. Sie hat eine Reihe von Keynote-Vorträgen auf renommierten internationalen Konferenzen gehalten und ist Associate Editor bei führenden Fachzeitschriften (Mathematical Finance, Finance and Stochastis and  Journal of Computational Finance). Im Juni 2019 erhielt sie den START-Preis des FWF für exzellente NachwuchsforscherInnen, der neben dem Wittgenstein-Preis der höchstdotierte Wissenschaftspreis Österreichs ist. Ihr Projekt „Universelle Strukturen in Finanzmathematik” wurde dabei ausgezeichnet.

Im Sommersemester 2020 unterrichtet Prof. Cuchiero online den UK Mathematische Optimierung. Trotz der aufgrund des Notbetriebs schwierigen Umstände wünschen wir Prof. Cuchiero einen erfolgreichen Start an der Fakultät und heißen sie herzlich willkommen!

We are pleased that Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Christa Cuchiero has accepted the offer for professorship of “Quantitative Risk Management” and joined our faculty, starting May 1, 2020. She is associated with the department of Statistics and Operations Research.

Previously, she has been professor at the University of Paris (Paris VII, Diderot), Assistant Professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business as well as University Assistant at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna and Post Doc at the ETH Zurich. At the beginning of her career, Cuchiero worked as Risk Analyst at Allianz France in Paris.

Christa Cuchiero studied Technical Mathematics at the Vienna University of Technology, including a stay abroad at the École Centrale Paris. She has received her doctorate in Mathematics at the ETH Zurich. In 2018 followed her habilitation at the University of Vienna.

Her research interests include Financial Mathematics, Stochastic Analysis and Quantitative Risk Management, especially Data-Driven Risk Inference, Machine Learning in Finance, Statistics of Stochastic Processes and Universal Approximation Theory in Dynamic Situations.

Prof. Cuchiero is co-organizer of numerous international conferences and workshops, most recently "Quantitative Finance Workshop 2019" in Switzerland. She gave a series of keynote speeches at renowned international conferences and is associate editor of leading journals (Mathematical Finance, Finance and Stochastis and Journal of Computational Finance). 

In June 2019, Prof. Cuchiero was awarded the START-Award for outstanding young researchers by the FWF board. Next to the Wittgenstein-Award, this prize is Austria’s most highly endowed research award. Cuchiero received the award for her research project “Universelle Strukturen in Finanzmathematik”.

In the ongoing summer term, Prof. Cuchiero teaches the course Optimization in Mathematics (online).
